    1. Most comfortable pack I ever had.

My wife and I ditched our Internals three years ago for a Kelty Trekker 65 and Kelty Tioga 5500. We can wear our Kelty's, loaded to the max, all day long without shoulder pain. Could not do that with any of the several models of Internal frames we tried over the years. on Dec 5th 2016

    2. suprised how light

I have been using an internal frame for my hiking with our troop. Bought this pack for some of the larger boys in the troop to use, but had the opportunity to use it myself. Loads easier, carries lighter and much cooler on my back!
would like it in a green, brown or tan color......

    3. great pack... color sux

Love the pack... hate being the most visible thing in the woods though.... bring back the green !... or brown earth tones... please no more walking danger flags..
      Thank you

    4. A+++

love this pack. someday everyone will have external frame packs - the internal frame packs are a fashion statement IMHO. OK there are some things i might add. i think it needs more webbing attachment points on the back. i think it might benefit from some small pockets on the hip belt. we need this in a 75 and 85 size. these are quibbles really. my brother has a gregory baltoro and he is thinking of ditching it for a kelty external frame. Ha! on Jul 4th 2016

    5. Second to none.

I grew up with Kelty, when their only store was in Glendale, CA and they had Sir Hillary's Mt Everest backpack on display (with the "DO NOT TOUCH" sign that all us kids ignored). In the 60's, there was nothing better, and having a Kelty was a sign of the "rich kids". It's STILL a sign of the best for old school external packs, my only objection is that you can no longer get them in the Kelty Forest Green. I would replace my red Trecker 65 in a heartbeat for a green model. on Jun 17th 2016

    6. Traditional Backpacker

I have found the old style external packs very functional over the years so when it was time to get back into hiking I went with the Kelty, which has always been the pack to own. Functional; lots of tie down space; lots of compartments for organizing and easier access to what you need; frame expandability. Has it all. I also like being able to keep the external frame pack well off my back for comfort/ventilation in hot weather. on Jun 6th 2016

    7. Waiste Belt not made for narrow hips.

I have noticed this with other backpackers with the Kelty Trekker, if you have narrow hips, the hip belt is pulled in all that the straps will allow. on Jun 2nd 2016

    8. Kelty Yukon, Tioga & Trekker

Great Packs. The Kelty External Frames are the most comfortable & versatile packs I have ever worn. I replaced my original Boy Scout canvas external Frame from the 80's with a Kelty Yukon.

My 13 year old son had an Ospry internal frame and hatted it. I let him use my Yukon on a backpacking trip recently and now he will not give it back.

We have a Yukon, and Tioga External Frame and are purchasing the Trekker 65 to complete our set.

      Durability is second to none.

Just wish they still made the Trekker in Green as they did the Yukon and Tioga. Only negative for me is the color.

    9. Customer Review

I recently replaced my mountaineer frame and d4 kelty pack I bought in 1973.t This pack and frame saw most of the USA, Europe and Canada. It lasted 43 years with the normal replacement of straps , belt and bag repair. I tried an internal frame but returned to the comfortable Trekker 65 which no doubt will outlive me. on Feb 11th 2016
