We are avid hikers, and this was so comfortable for my girls, up to 43# (yeah it says 40# with 10# gear but I'd easily carry them plus 15# gear and this pack took it without a rip of tear for 2 seasons and looked brand new when I gave it to my sister in law less than 1 month ago). That's another plus: we were in dirty dusty muddy environments, and this cleans up like a dream, too, with simple hot soapy water on a cloth wiping down--never scrubbed if ever.
Comfy for kids and for me (5'5") and my husband (6'1")! Sat well on my hips and didn't strain my back or neck and every part free for maximal movement. No poking or rubbing anywhere (not the case with other packs!).
I cannot tell you how cleverly designed this is! removable backpack for shorter hikes, picnic time, or if kids want to try carrying gear (starter pack)!! Changing pad and tons of pockets in the removable backpack (zips off easily). Tons of undercarriage storage--food and warm weather gear and baby gear for family of 5! Clever toy loops and loops all over for caribbiner clips' near limitless additional hauling (bear mace, 1st aid kit, extra water, tool kits, whistles, and more for us). Side deep mesh pockets for water. Neat sun/rain canopy with high clearance. Front pocket on waistbelt for small items. Brilliant padding on shoulder straps to perfectly and safely nestle kid but make finding the straps easy for mommy/daddy. And we would lay a comfy blanket across the panel between kid and mommy's neck and our kids always fell asleep no matter how they'd fight it. My youngest is very tall and sturdy, and this pack accommodated her until age 4.5! Nice kickstand feature, too. Only wish: they'd make water bottle pockets on the waistband--really frustrating to have to have someone else help you get a bottle out, if you were using more than the camelpack/waterbladder (yup--has that, too!)--for me I'm flexible enough to reach up behind me to get one out, but very few people bend like that...but then maybe most people wouldn't need more than the waterbladder' supply for water. We bought this pack for our first child and loved it so much that when baby #2 came we bought another because the first was still in use with the older (kids are 2 & 3 years old). I am 5'2" 115lbs and my husband is 6'2" 175lbs and this pack adjusts well for both of our bodies. It holds a huge amount of gear and is really comfy. Both kids loved the pack and were comfy. We have only had this backpack for our little one (9 months) for 2 months and have been loving it till we got stuck in the rain the past 2 times we've been hiking. I got online thinking for sure there was a rain cover for this backpack. Kelty usually thinks of everything!! But they don't make a rain cover for the kid carriers. I might see if we can find one of the osprey ones that will work on top of it. We do love it otherwise! Our little girl gets her nap time in and loves to ride along! Ashley on Aug 3rd 2016
This child backpack is the real deal! I'm on my second child with it. When my little girl was younger, I'd take her out trout fishing with me along the edges of the salt creeks. She loved it! I use it for festivals and other activities. It's even great to take shopping. The other day I took my toddler boy to my little girl's soccer practice and coached while he was on my back. Everyone was amazed! It was funny, I'd forget he was on my back until I'd hear a little chuckle as I was running down the field! I trimmed the hedges with him on my back Sunday afternoon too. I love it! Brad on Oct 12th 2014
