I loved the packability of this bag when I first purchased it. It was substantially lighter and more compact than many other bags in the 40-ish degree area. However since owning it there has not been a night in it that I wasn't freezing, even in 55 degree california night on my last back packing trip. I bought a liner and even with the liner there are areas of the bag that feel thin and cold. I think this is an ideal indoor bag. Rae on Sep 9th 2016
I have last year's 550 fill bag.
Took this bag on a back country hike in Rocky Mountain National Park two weeks ago. Even on a night that it only got down to 48f my feet were freezing.
I even bought a 20f liner to help with it and it still wasn't good even down to 40f.

I really love this sleeping bag. It's very lightweight and small, fits perfectly on the straps of my pack. That being said, there isn't much cushion or padding to lay on but if you have a mat or don't mind hard ground you'll be satisfied. It's kept me warm but not too hot in 40-60 degree weather. Have yet to use it on colder weather, and with 70s it gets a little warm but not bad. A little more roomy than a mummy but still compact. I would definitely recommend this sleeping bag. I originally thought I would only use the cosmic 40 in warm weather. Well I just returned from an overnight hike /fishing trip the day time temp was 70but overnight it dropped to about 35. I stayed warm and cozy in the bag but I would not risk any colder. Very well constructed zipper /draw cord work flawless. Packs down very small Pat in Pennsylvania on Apr 21st 2016
I took this bag into the back country on a fly-fishing trip at 10,000 feet in July. After a day of fishing I got back to camp and it was cold... to cold for July. I was worried I would be cold all night. I crawled into this bag and slept the whole night. Not once did I roll over to think about adding a layer in the middle of the night. My buddy on the other hand wouldn't stop complaining the next day about how cold he was the night before. This bag also packs down into the size of a fruit roll-up. Unknown on Mar 24th 2016
